The Ladies Society of Shouifat

The Ladies Society of Shouifat, Lebanon was established in 1967 and was granted a not-for-profit status by the Lebanese Government on March 28, 1968. It is a charitable, social and cultural organization, currently headed by Mrs. Linda Kais Saab.

In 1970, the society bought a parcel of land in Shouifat with the intention of building a community center. Over the years and with great effort from the ladies, the building took shape and eventually developed into a seven story building. It has two large halls for social gatherings, a day care center for children between one month to three years of age, a medical clinic, and a library equipped with computers, Internet access, copying and faxing facilities. Recently, the society added a residence for female students who wish to study in Beirut but cannot commute from their homes in the mountains. The Society also sponsors several social and charitable events throughout the year. This includes a dinner for orphans from all parts of Lebanon, free vaccination for children, and seminars on health related issues and disease prevention, among others. The Society holds an annual gala dinner to raise the funds needed to carry out its mission of helping the community be a better place for everyone.

Now, the society needs your help in continuing its charitable mission especially to give assistance to the young ladies who aspire to pursue higher education in the city.
